Barcelona: rent caps in stressed-market zones remain in force for 2026 renewals
The Generalitat confirmed that Barcelona and 139 other Catalan municipalities remain designated as stressed-market zones, so new contracts and many renewals must respect the reference-price index. Tenants renewing an existing lease should verify the reference price on the state index before signing any increase.
